IColorMe is a color analysis consultation studio. With teaching originating from South Korea, this studio focuses on helping individuals find the right tone and color that matches their skin tone, personality, and help resonate the attitudes they hope to elude. Based out of Koreatown, Los Angeles, California, we wanted to aim to help a local start-up get equipped with the right tools to begin business.

CHALLENGE
The owner of iColorMe did not know where to start to formulate her brand and needed assistance developing a foundational piece that will guide her visual branding. After conducting a discovery session, it was clear that guidance was needed to make sure the opening days of her business started off with a confident mind.

OUTCOME
This project resulted in a foundational start to her business with a brand style guide, logo mark, word mark, sub mark, promotional mark, and other branding assets. From hours of consultation, we helped Esther, the founder, to reach decisions that would best serve her business goals and the needs of her audience.

IMPACT BY NUMBERS:

  1. Already 50 booking sessions upon soft opening.

  2. Expansion to a studio and opening of multi-tier bookings.

  3. 300 follower increase on all social media platforms upon 2 weeks of opening.

WHAT HAPPENED ?
Starting from scratch, we wanted to focus on what were the end goals of the business in regards to customer perception. Questions revolved around if the owner wanted the brand to be a sleek looking brand or one that invokes gentleness and bubbliness. Being that the main face of the brand would be the owner, our recommendation was to pursue the appearance that best resonates with her personality. As personal branding can expand greatly, it was a good opportunity to allow her social network to meet her business network.

Strategy & Approach


Starting from scratch, we first used the discovery session to understand who Esther, the owner, is as a person and what were her goals for the business as well as herself. This opened a lot of doors to questions revolving visual perception, customer engagement, strategizing on promotions and booking dates. This was a valuable opportunity to help guide Esther in running the operations of her business to give a target to aim for. This then lead us to start off her branding project in creating the first steps of iColorMe’s visual identity.

Being a person-to-person consultation business, it only felt right to incorporate a bit of who Esther was in the branding. She associates her love towards cats as a trait that a lot of network associate to her. That was the motif that drove us to reach the iColorMe kitty, which now stands as the mascot for the color analysis business.

And the results?

A successful start to small business.


With a foundational start to iColorMe’s visual branding, Esther was able to consolidate on all the necessary pieces to start her business with a bang. From the soft opening, she was already able to book more than 40 sessions, and the count keeps going up. This is only the start as iColorMe’s branding will expand to developing swag, business collateral, and more.
